Large infiltration fields for distribution center in Gilze
On the Burgemeester Krollaan in Gilze, close to TEFAB's headquarters, work is in progress on three infiltration fields at the new distribution center in the Broekakkers industrial park. For this home game, TEFAB supplied Non Woven geotextile to cover DWTN's infiltration crates. A familiar combo serving an area of 1600m3.
Water Management
What needs to happen on vacant land before it can serve a new function? Right, introduce stormwater management. DWTN, as a drainage specialist, was brought in on this project to imitate the natural water cycle. The rainwater and wastewater are safely collected and separated to reduce flooding using sump pumps and oil separators, also supplied by DWTN.
Ideal combination
Crates and Non Woven geotextiles are often used together in infiltration projects. The explanation is simple, it just works well together. Just like TEFAB and DWTN. Marcel Diederen, owner of DWTN, reveals that they always turn to TEFAB for similar projects. 'For the infiltration project in Gilze, we need geotextiles in addition to our infiltration crates. I have been arranging that with TEFAB for years and that goes well. That's how we met and in this we complement each other. TEFAB is the logical choice for us. TEFAB's selected geotextile has filtering properties that make it permeable but keep sand and other soil material out.
Solid soil needed
With three infiltration fields, this project is a pretty big job. At DTWN, they think ahead, which is why heavy-duty crates were supplied. Marcel: "That way you won't encounter any surprises. The geotextile can also take a beating. With TEFAB's innovative nature and 30 years of experience, technical knowledge and ease of assembly are clearly present in the materials supplied.
Application
Applying TEFAB's NW16 geotextile above and below DWTN's Rigofill ST. infiltration crates counteracts groundwater contamination.
The hydraulic properties of NW16 geotextile encourage the build-up of a natural soil filter in the adjacent soil which ensures longer-term filtration stability. The technical details speak for themselves: Non Woven geotextile is made of thermally bonded PP nonwoven staple fiber and a water permeability of up to 85 l/m²s. Uniform tensile strengths range up to 16 kN per meter wide in all directions.
Progress
The complete project will be completed by summer 2022. In the meantime, the infiltration crates and geotextile will be processed. Because of the quality of both materials, interim maintenance is virtually unnecessary and the construction will remain functional for at least a century. This saves time, money and resources.
