Soft Non Woven & PROTEC

Low bonar bontec40 snw

Soft Non Woven (SNW) geotextiles are manufactured using a process more or less equivalent to the thermally bonded Non Wovens, however, without any thermal processing. This results in greater elongation and puncture resistance.

The main functions of Soft Non Woven are protection, separation and filtration and are mainly used in conditions where both high tensile strength and high elongation are required, such as in the protection of membranes/foils in various applications and tree roots, and in the repelling of Japanese Knotweed.

Nonwoven Geotextiles (Protec)
The Protec Non Woven is characterized by a greater thickness and higher elongation than standard vernalized non-woven geotextiles. This makes these geotextiles ideal for protection and drainage applications where a thick cushioning layer and high elongation are critical design requirements.

Common application areas of the Protec include protection of costly pipeline coatings when backfilling pipe trenches, use as an erosion resistant layer under rock reinforcement in coastal defense projects and as protective attenuation for landfills and reservoirs. Due to its greater thickness, Protec non-woven geotextile offers better values for in-plane water flow than standard verniered non-woven geotextiles, allowing it to also be used as a drainage layer for certain applications.

- SNW14 | +/-120gr/m2
- SNW25 | +/-200gr/m2
- SNW40UV | +/-300gr/m2
- PROTEC | from 300gr/m2to more than 2,000gr/m2

Application SNW tbv Japanese knotweed

This Soft Non Woven [the TFDK40SNW] is used to reduce the (re)growth of Japanese Knotweed. This is done by specially wrapping the growth site with this non-thermally bonded nonwoven. Due to its high punch-through strength and high degree of flexibility, this Non Woven can withstand the growth force of the Japanese Knotweed roots, prevents tearing due to any protruding sharp parts, and ensures that the roots of the Japanese Knotweed do not or minimally adhere to the cloth. This application is also included in the manual 'applying underground root cloth within urban areas to control Japanese knotweed', which can be requested via our contact form.

For more options against Japanese Knotweed read also the application with Duracover

This Soft Non Woven can be laid by means of a wide overlap, but we recommend connecting the separation layer together by means of a ground-resistant double-sided (TDK5-Tape) adhesive layer.
