Bentonite mat with HDPE

Hdpe bentonite mat

A bentonite mat is a factory-made mineral sealing mat that usually consists of two layers of geotextile with a bentonite powder as an intermediate layer. When the bentonite mat comes into contact with water and is loaded, the bentonite swells to form a waterproof mineral seal. The geotextile, on the one hand, retains the bentonite powder and, on the other hand, serves as protection against intrusion of roots or sharp stones.

The main application of the bentonite mat is as a bottom seal of ponds, for example, and for covering waste dumps, water and calamity basins and in dike reinforcement. In these, the bentonite mat serves as a replacement for the layer of clay and should provide a waterproof layer and erosion-resistant covering.

This solution with HDPE creates a durable barrier that provides a double seal. In the event of a perforation in the membrane, bentonite serves as a secondary sealing barrier. Thanks to bentonite's self-healing properties, this bentonite mat with HDPE can seal the perforation and stop the leakage.

General feature:
The technically designed needle process ensures greater internal and external strength of the mat and expands the number of possible applications of bentonite mats. The thickness of the membrane can range from 0.2 mm to 2.5 mm.
